LOOP DARLING ♡ / DESIGNER DOCUMENTATION
Patterns that are easier to follow.
This is the first public outline for our proposed Loopi-ready formatting standard. It builds on familiar knitting and crochet terminology rather than changing a designer’s original techniques.
1 · Clearly label the work
Provide a title, designer name, craft, yarn and tool requirements, gauge where relevant, version number, usage license and a table of sections. Separate pieces such as Front, Back, Ruffle or Ties.
2 · Keep instructions scoped to sections
Label each row, round or instruction step consistently within its section. If Row 1 starts again in a new part, indicate the new section so the reader does not combine unrelated steps.
3 · Make repeats and measurements explicit
State which rows or stitches repeat, the stopping measurement or condition, and the exact size variation used. Do not assume a single global row counter can represent a garment with multiple parts.
4 · Preserve original charts and PDF pages
Keep symbols, legends, sizes, diagrams and source-page references alongside written text. A machine-readable companion file would supplement—not secretly rewrite—the original PDF.
5 · Respect designers and makers
Publish only patterns you own or are authorized to distribute. Never label a design as verified Loopi-ready until compatibility has actually been tested against our future validator.
