My Yarn Bag & Yarn Power ♡
Your Yarn Bag ♡ belongs to your signed-in account on the website. It lets you record yarn you own and compare its weight and total available yardage against a published pattern’s stated minimum requirement.
Add yarn you already have
- Sign in and open Collection → My Yarn Bag ♡.
- Enter a yarn name. Brand, colorway, weight, yardage, and notes are optional. You can record yarn bought anywhere.
- Choose Add to Yarn Bag ♡. Your saved yarn appears only in your account. Remove an entry when you no longer want it listed. Blank yardage is stored as unknown for display and is not counted as available yarn for Yarn Power.
What does Yarn Power calculate?
For a real published Pattern Card, Yarn Power looks for a stated yarn weight and at least one positive yardage requirement from the Designer’s listed versions. It compares the smallest stated version yardage with the sum of compatible yarn weights and positive yards entered in your shelf.
- Likely enough ♡ · check size: the recorded available yards at the matching listed yarn weight meet the smallest stated version. This is a starting estimate, not a promise.
- Need more yarn: the total recorded compatible yardage is below that comparison point.
- Unknown / incomplete: the Designer has not provided enough published requirements, your inventory is missing, or the account context cannot be checked. It must not guess.
- Physical ready-made products: the yarn is provided by the Designer; your private Yarn Bag is not a fulfillment source.
What else should I check before starting?
Check the exact pattern version and size, fiber content, gauge, hook or needle size, dye lot, yardage rounding, color placement and any yarn already committed to another project. “Likely enough” alone does not guarantee your yarn is suitable.
Why do Yarn Cards have different colors?
Every Yarn Card has a soft pastel background based on its yarn weight, not its colorway. The seven pastel colors cover all eight standard weight numbers: Super Bulky (6) and Jumbo (7) share one color but keep separate labels. The stock photo within a preview is illustrative; it is not a photograph of your actual yarn, and the colorway is recorded separately.
What about yarn purchased on Loop Darling?
Buying real yarn through the Marketplace is not available yet. When yarn sales and verified order records launch, a paid purchase can add its exact yarn product and colorway to your private Yarn Bag once, based on a confirmed server-side purchase event. An unpaid, failed, canceled, or fictional example will never automatically create a bag entry. For now, add yarn manually, including yarn bought elsewhere.
What does Yarn Bag never do?
- It does not buy, hold, reserve, allocate, or subtract yarn automatically.
- It does not reveal your private yarn entries to Designers or other Members.
- It does not create a purchase, download, or ownership entitlement.
- It does not automatically sync website yarn or pattern purchases to the Android app’s local pattern and project data.
What about demonstration Pattern Cards?
Fictional preview cards don’t provide verified pattern yardage and cannot support a dependable Yarn Power result. You can try the Yarn Bag interface without treating example card requirements as real product specifications.
