Understand a Pattern Card ♡

A Pattern Card is the consistent portrait view of a pattern in the Marketplace and Collection. It is a way to read details and track your own progress—not a rarity card or a separate product license.

What do you see on a card?

  • Designer and collection: the real published Designer name links to the public shop. The collection line uses an actual published shop section when one exists; otherwise it says “Designer patterns.” Demo Designer names are explicitly fictional.
  • Photograph: landscape artwork fits inside the 5:7 portrait Pattern Card. The picture itself is not a 5:7 crop or proof of the named demo pattern.
  • Title and description: details supplied by the Designer for a real approved pattern; fictional examples are labeled previews.
  • Skill, yarn, and type: a one-to-five difficulty, published yarn weight, and the kind of file or pattern. An unavailable requirement is labeled as missing rather than guessed.
  • Stitch Traits ♡: information supplied or confirmed in the listing, such as construction traits, techniques or included instructions.
  • Explore/details: use the card or its preview control to see a larger view or separate details without changing the 5:7 card silhouette.

The 1–5 skill levels

  • 1/5 — Beginner
  • 2/5 — Easy
  • 3/5 — Intermediate
  • 4/5 — Hard
  • 5/5 — Advanced

Designers confirm these ratings when they prepare their drafts. Some earlier patterns use legacy difficulty labels; the website maps those conservatively when an exact number was not recorded. Difficulty does not mean a pattern was tested or approved.

Why are the borders charcoal, silver or gold?

  • Charcoal (not collected): no active ownership, or a demo preview. Handmade physical listings also use a neutral border rather than digital pattern entitlements.
  • Silver (collected · unfinished): you have an active genuine digital pattern entitlement, but have not self-marked it made.
  • Gold (marked made ♡): you have that entitlement and personally recorded that you made the project. You can undo your own mark where the interface offers it.
  • Status unavailable: if secure account ownership cannot be checked, the page should not pretend you own or completed it.
About Craft Proof: silver is not a shop quality badge and gold is not independent verification. “Marked made” is your statement about your own project. Read the separate Craft Proof documentation for actual review labels.

Does a saved Basket item or followed Designer count as collected?

No. Saving an item and following a Designer are both separate from owning a paid digital pattern. Checkout is still closed. Read My Basket and Following Designers.

How can I see example cards?

There are 20 fictional demonstration Pattern Cards in the Marketplace and a separate 15-card sample fan in Collection. They show the interface without falsely claiming a published pattern or a real sale.
