Pattern Cards for Designers ♡
Pattern Cards give every eligible Designer listing the same 5:7 portrait presentation as the Marketplace. You can check the private preview in your pattern editor before publication. Published approval and buyer ownership remain separate.
Where is the live Pattern Cards preview?
In Designer Studio, your private listing editor displays a live Pattern Cards preview in the right column, above the private photo gallery. The larger Live Listing Preview spans the full width below the editor. Both show your draft; neither is a public published listing.
Photograph and card dimensions
- The entire card face has a 5:7 portrait aspect ratio.
- The artwork inside the face is a landscape photograph, prepared at about 720 × 350 for the existing photo crop workflow.
- A locally prepared PDF crop takes priority over a private cover photo, then a valid manually supplied cover link, then a placeholder.
- Your private gallery remains private until the listing is deliberately published through the authorized approval workflow.
Prepare clear Pattern Card facts
Enter and check the pattern title, short summary, PDF, designer identity, craft, traits, yarn weight, version-specific minimum yardage and skill rating. The Pattern Card only displays approved published information; it must not invent construction specifications.
Skill rating
- 1/5 — Beginner
- 2/5 — Easy
- 3/5 — Intermediate
- 4/5 — Hard
- 5/5 — Advanced
New drafts store this exact 1–5 value in their listing details while retaining a compatible legacy difficulty field. If a PDF import recognizes difficulty wording, review the extracted value before saving; the system should not infer difficulty from your project alone.
What are the trim preview buttons?
Default / Purchased / Completed swatches in your private editor simulate the charcoal, silver and gold appearance. These test swatches do not change real entitlements, a Member’s marked-made status, Craft Proof, listing approval, or public card borders.
Your storefront collections versus Designer Decks
Designer Studio currently supports up to three curated shop sections, each with up to 24 of your saved pattern and handmade-product drafts, and six layout choices. Once an approved shop and its eligible listings are published, public shop sections display only published, sale-enabled items. Unassigned published listings remain discoverable.
Those storefront sections are not the same as a Member’s Designer Deck progress. In My Pattern Collection, your published Designer profile photo (if supplied) appears on a 5:7 Designer card back below the single Pattern Card fan. Members can use the horizontal arrows to browse Designer backs and select yours to filter the existing fan above. This does not grant ownership or enable editing of another Member’s collection. Permanent deck numbering and a Designer-controlled branded card-back editor remain future work.
Can a private draft create a public card or sale?
No. A private draft, saved shop layout, preview trim choice, or test-mode demonstration does not publish a pattern or bypass review, identity, Stripe, MFA, entitlement or checkout rules. Actual selling and payouts remain gated until eligible launch workflows are enabled.
